iRelayChat is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe IRC should be simple, private, and free from surveillance.

Information Collection and Use

We collect NO information. Period.

iRelayChat does not:

Collect any personal information
Track your usage or behavior
Use analytics or crash reporting services
Store your messages or conversations
Access your contacts or other apps
Sell or share any data (because we have none)
Require user accounts or registration
Use advertising or tracking SDKs

How iRelayChat Works

iRelayChat is a direct IRC client. When you use the app:

You connect directly to IRC servers you specify
All communication happens between your device and that IRC server
We never see, store, or have access to your messages
Connection details (server, port, nickname) are stored only on your device

Data Storage

The app stores the following information locally on your device only:

IRC server address and port
Your chosen nickname
Your app preferences (colors, fonts, theme)
Last connected channel

This data never leaves your device and is not synced to any cloud service.

Third-Party Services

We use NO third-party services. The app contains:

No analytics frameworks
No crash reporting tools
No advertising networks
No social media SDKs
No tracking pixels or beacons

Network Communications

iRelayChat only makes network connections to:

IRC servers you explicitly choose to connect to
Using standard IRC protocol (RFC 1459 and related)

The app never connects to our servers because we don't have any.

Children's Privacy

iRelayChat does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. However, IRC servers may contain adult content, which is why the app is rated 17+.

Security

iRelayChat supports SSL/TLS encryption for secure connections to IRC servers. However, the security of your communications ultimately depends on:

Whether the IRC server supports SSL/TLS
The IRC server's privacy policy
The IRC network's logging practices

We recommend using SSL/TLS (port 6697) when available.

Your IRC Server's Privacy

Important: While iRelayChat collects no data, the IRC servers you connect to may:

Log conversations and user activity
Store IP addresses
Have their own privacy policies

Please review the privacy policy of any IRC network you connect to.

No Ads, Ever

iRelayChat contains no advertisements and never will. We don't monetize your attention or sell your data because we have no data to sell.

We believe in transparency. iRelayChat's architecture uses standard, auditable technologies:

Swift and SwiftUI for the interface
Apple's Network framework for connections
Standard IRC protocol
No proprietary tracking or analytics

If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. However, our core commitment to collecting zero data will never change.
